THE RICHARD HUNT MEMORIAL AWARD IS IN TRIBUTE TO HIGHSCHOOL STUDENT ATHLETES THAT ARE / WERE HELD BACK BY ECONOMIC & ENVIRONMENTAL BARRIERS… September 15, 1973 – October 26, 2003
Suddenly on October 26, 2003, Richard Hunt, 30 years of age, passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital. He will be remembered through this award in addition to the abundance of friends & family he had. Richards pride & joy were the people around him. He was born in Jamaica and immigrated to Canada as a teenager in 1989. He attended West Kildonan Collegiate & was a member of the Varsity Boy’s basketball team. Subsequently, he attended the University of Winnipeg, where he also played on the Wesmen Men’s basketball team. A guy with a big heart, surely everyone whom he came in contact with felt his warmth and kindness. The kids, who knew him, appreciated his love & patience. Thanks Rich for your: listening ears, respect, help, advice, and above all, the love you showed us all.
